This is a great resort in wonderful surroundings. Some of the best restaurants in Utah are found in Deer Valley as well. Even if you take away the world class skiing this is a great place to stay. You'll love it.

I was out in that area (SLC) for a conference last November and drove up to Stein's resort for dinner. Fantastic place, and the dinner in their main dining room (Glitretind?) was wonderful.

Blair, I have only been lucky enough to have lunch there, wonderful place. The skiing at Deer Valley is some of the best. I am sure it would be a memorable trip.

Thanks so much..its sounds wonderful. We are deciding beteen there and Telluride.Any thoughts??

Telluride is a relatively small area. Within 10 minutes of Deer Valley, you also have Park City Mountain Resort and The Canyons. From most areas, Deer Valley (less than 40 minutes from the SLC airport) is easier to get to.

We stay at the Stein every spring break. The service is great especially when you ski. The staff assists you with putting on your boots and skis and for some beginners(me) will help put your skis on. Whenever your done skiing they are right there to assist you with your skis and with a hot drink. Don't forget to have a pocket full of fives and ones. The rooms are great as well as the food. They have a new spa and swimming pool. The altitude is lower than Colorado so it's easier to adjust to. However, my husband prefers to ski in Colorado but he's an expert skier. But for my children and me who are intermediate skiers, it's just fine. Also, no snowboarders are allowed at Deer Valley so you don't have to worry about them.

Stein's is the only 5 diamond rated hotel in Utah. It's outstanding in every way. Big $, but if you have it spend, spend it here. Food is fabulous, skiing is great. Deer Valley has come a long way since it opened something like 26 years ago. Now they have all types of terrain, lots of groomers for the visitors.

Have fun!
