Steamboat vs. Winter Park??
Hola! If main reason is good skiing for intermediates (long and wide STEEP BLUES) GROOMING, and SCHOOL for 5 yr. old good little skier, during 1/1-4, 2004, which would be better choice between Steamboat and Winter Park??? We then go to A-Basin for 2 days, and Vail/Beaver for 8 days.
Any suggestions on discount lift tkts. to Steamboat? Last one: the rooms/quality at Beaver Village Lodge, how rates?? Gracias! |
Hola! I would lean towards Steamboat for the type of skiing you mention. A-Basin is a strange choice - few facilities, very steep expert runs, very different from WP, Steamboat & Vail/BC. Why A-Ba?
I used to work for Vail/BC resorts many years ago -never heard of Beaver Village Lodge. Do you have the name right? There's a BC Lodge that was managed by Embassy Suites or a Beaver Run Village in Breckenridge... |
Tks BLYVAIL. Yes, I am in fact leaning towards Steamboat (was there 8 yrs. ago). A-Basin: never been there! Then again, is it really that puny/boring?
Beaver Village is a lodge in Winter Park, oddly enough. |
Actually A Ba is pretty hard core! Known for its steeps (not long, wide and groomed) and "the beach". Spring in A Basin parking lot is a big party - not exactly family oriented, if you know what I mean... they're looking to be opened until July 4th. Only resort open in Colorado now.

I would pick Steamboat. Couldn't begin to tell you where to get discount tickets. I go out west with my ski club and we get a pretty good group discount.

Buckeymom and BLYVALE, tks. Ok, A-Basin 1 day only (get it out of my system), then on to Steamboat. For strong intermediates but GROOMERS, is 3 days enough at SBoat?
Any Motel/Hotel suggestions on the CHEAP but OK side (in town or as far as 5 miles.? Gracias! |
