Staying on a layover

I'm flying United. How hard is it for me to stay a few days at one of my layovers? Any tips? I wanted to explore San Fran in July on the way back.

Check with the airline about the cost. It will probably cost a lot more, even if it's a city you have to stop in. That's been my experience.

It really depends on the whole ticket...what is your complete itinerary? I have had friends in the past be allowed a "free" stopover(few days) in LA on the way from say Stlouis to Honolulu. But more details of your flight plan, please!

I think anything longer than a 4 hour layover on a flight (that isn't airline imposed) is considered a new ticket and will charge you accordingly.

Returning from OKC, through Denver, then San Fran, then Honolulu. With a child. Will they take pity on me :(

Upon initial inspection I would surmise that you would be breaking the fare so to speak. It will cost you and maybe more than just a pretty penny.I doubt that the airlines will shower you with pity.Ya nevah know.
