Staying in Windsor and Going to Ford Field

We are going to a Lion's game in december, and are hoping to not have to drive to the stadium.

We are staying at a hotel in Windsor near the Canadian end of the tunnel.

Any suggestions??

Hello from Detroit!

There is a bus that goes between Windsor and Detroit (it used to be a dollar) You can catch it right at the tunnel entrance. Once you come off the bus there at the Detroit Customs you could hop a cab. Or hang out at one of the many bars there on Jefferson Ave. (that's the entrance for the tunnel to Canada) and take their shuttle to Ford field. You could also catch the People mover at the Ren Cen (marriott hotel) and go over to greektown have some OPA and hop a shuttle.

And if your really fit, you could just walk to ford field from the Tunnel bus stop. I think it's less than an mile. But it could be really cold that time of the year and the wind off the detroit river can be wicked.

There is a gyro stand next to the Ramada inn there in Windsor, they are open until 4 am and have great sandwiches. Try the Hummous/grapeleave combo, so yummy. Laikon Restaurant in Greektown has the best lamb chops. Tom's Oyster Bar on Jefferson has some fantastic food and a shuttle to Ford Field. And Ford Field has some great food too. And there are many many spots to eat there around the stadium.

Come to Detroit and have a great time. Fastjohnnyv

If you catch the tunnel bus in Windsor, you can take it all the way to Ford Field and back. During events, it stops at Witherell and Madison. From there, it's only a two-block walk. The fare is $3.50 each way.

You can get a map at www.dwtunnel.com. Remember that to cross the border, you'll need proof of identity and citizenship. If you don't have a passport, you'll need a photo ID and birth certificate.
