staying at the Hyatt Regency Maui, have questions about restaurants in the area

The hyatt is in an area called Kaanapali. We are looking for a restaurant to go to and I have no idea how far away things are in Maui. Anyway, looking for restaurant ideas in the area for a good hawaiian place. I found one place called Hula Grill that sounds fun, does anybody know anthing about that place. I also found a great place but it is french food and I wanted something for more hawaiian. Thanks for your help!

Kaanapali has several hotels/resorts and restaurants at each of them all along the beach. Also, it is only about 10 minutes from Lahaina where you will find more restaurants. Have you considered going to a luau? There are many to chose from. I enjoyed the Old Lahaina Luau but I'm sure you could find many opinions on luaus in particular if you do a search of the forums for luaus.

Mamma's Fish house is one of our favorite places in the US to eat. It is probably a 15-20 min drive from where you will be stayin but definitely a must in Maui.

15-20 minutes from the Hyatt??

Wow! How fast do you drive? We left the Hyatt at 12:15pm Monday, Oct. 23, 2006....and arrived at Mama's Fish House at 1:00. Not too much traffic or rain, and I was a bit above the speed limit. We went the way suggested by Mapquest.

I guess "time flies when you're having fun"!!

I concur with Beachkomer. 45 minutes would be a minimum from the Hyatt to Mama's Fish House.
In Lahaina, I like Moose McGillicutty's (SP?), Lahaina Plate lunch, another plate lunch place on Prison Street and the Sunrise Cafe. I have a bus who loves Pacific O's, although I've personally not been there.
