Staying at the Andaz in West Hollywood with kids.

We are staying at the Andaz in West Hollywood with 2 kids (8 & 11).

Would you recommend to staying at this hotel for families? We got this hotel through Priceline, but only realized afterwards that it was in the 'gay' district (not that there is anything wrong with that).

We just don't want to feel out of place while we stay here and would like to be near some family friendly restaurants.

Thanks

There are no refunds if you got this hotel on a name your own price, so unless you are willing to lose your $$, seems like you'll just have to grin and bear it. It gets great reviews on Trip Advisor - 178 people list it as having been family trip - http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Rev...alifornia.html. Click on the families review in middle of page.

Did you get one room or two? I assume you know that if you "bid" on Priceline, they only guarantee one bed (regardless of location )

Agree. If you can get a room with 2 beds you are OK. but if they give you a room with one king bed - they may then want to charge extra to bring in roll-aways or whatever for your kids.

This is a risk using Priceline anywhere - but esp big city hotels that tend to have more/many rooms with one bed.

It's a busy area, and the specific spot is hardly what I'd call very gay. More generally trendy with numerous night clubs and music clubs. You're right by House of Blues, for example, which has a wonderfully fun gospel brunch if you're interested. I think the kids would like it too.
