Stayed at Luxor Hotel, Las Vegas recently??
My husband, adult son, sister, and I are planning to go to Las Vegas in either June or July and want to stay at the Luxor. Please give your pros and cons on your stay.

We have never stayed there on the advice of friends who have stayed in practically every major hotel on the strip. They rate the Luxor at the very bottom, well actually one up for the bottom, just above the Excaliber. Don't ask me why, but that's what they say.

My husband and I with our two daughters stayed at the Luxor over Thanksgiving. Although the rooms were standard hotelish and a little small, we found it quite comfortable. I think there is some difference on whether you stay in the Pyramid or the Tower. I think the Tower rooms are a little bigger. It was quite unique inside of the pyramid. It was located in walking distance of the newest hotels. It was little on the expensive side for standard rooms in my opinions. But it was not crowded and noisy like Excalibur. My kids would have rather stayed at New York, New York or Paris. But I really have no complaints, but then our family does not usually stay at classy hotels. Hope that helps a little.

Hi Ann, We stayed at the Luxor in October 1999 for 3 nights.
We found the hotel and Las Vegas very exciting . The rooms were nice, however, there was no bathtubs in the Pyramid rooms, but it was a good size room , had two queen size beds and there was still a lot of room to move about. It was a unique experience and the windows sloped down (watch your head!) and everything had the Egyptian theme. It is at the southern end of the strip, away from the mid stream action, but that suited us, it was not so crowded, and you did not have to wait ages for the buffet etc, etc. iT had a nice pool/spa/health club area, three really huge pools which in June and July will get a ton of use! Myself, I would stay there again.
Good luck in your search. Have fun.

We stayed at the Luxor two years ago and enjoyed it very much. We stayed in the Tower which was much quieter than the Pyramid. The place is huge!!

Hope this helps.

This info might help you...we just got a midweek rate of 39.00 for our stay at Paris during July. They actually don't advertise it, you just call the 800 number and ask for it!! Don't know if you are doing a package but if not, this may be a determining factor as I think the Paris and the Luxor are about the same league??Someone correct me on this if I am wrong!

I'd stay at Paris over Luxor any day, even for twice that rate. It is amazing what good rates there are in LV these days. We go to Vegas tomorrow for four nights staying at The Mirage for $75 a day including full breakfast, just another one of those specials. Several years ago, the lowest price I could get there was $150 a night.

The Luxor is not exactly center strip, and the weather in June/July will be VERY hot so you really don't want to plan on a lot of walking around. We always stay center strip, The Flamingo Hilton or Mirage. You can get to the Bellagio (lovely!!!), Ceasers, Bally's, Paris, Treasure Island & Venetian very easily and that's a big plus to us if we are there in hot weather. We were at the Flamingo over Xmas - room on 27th floor, overlooking Strip, Ceasers, etc. was $59 mid-week. Large room, and while not luxurious (as in Bellagio) it was very comfortable. Nice tropical pool area (important in summer!) and great buffet breakfast.

My wife & I just returned from four days at the Luxor and definitely recommend it. Our room in the pyrimid was large (two queen beds), comfortable & clean. The large bathroom had a terrific shower. We paid $79 and it was worth it. The pools are large & in a nice setting. The restaurants are better than most LV hotel eateries & we found the staff both friendly & helpful. The only downside is that its a bit far from the center strip ... but it has a walkway to the beautiful Mandelay Bay hotel & is very close to New York, New York. We would definitely stay at the Luxor again.

My wife and I have stayed at the Luxor 6 times in the last three years. Tower roooms are the best, are good sized and you can get some very low rates. It is not centre strip, but it does encourage you to get out and get a bit of excercise. If you enjoy good food in a good setting try the gourmet restaurant.
Whatever you decide, enjoy Las Vegas - it's great.

We are leaving this weekend for 4 days at the Luxor, our first trip to LV. We do not gamble and will try to steer our small children away from the casinos. Are the tower rooms farther away from the casino? Which rooms have the best view? Thanks!
My family and I just stayed at the Luxor for 4 nights in mid- March. We stayed in a tower room which was very nice. It is a hike down to the casino but is worth it. The person who checked us in also recommended tower over pyramid (mainly for noise). The room was very nice although we had no view. I found all of the service at the hotel to be excellent. I also enjoyed the location of the hotel. There are walkways to both Mandalay Bay (great restaurant called Rumjungle)and Excalibur. From Excalibur, it is a close walk to NY NY and MGM. If you prefer the hotels at center strip, however, it is a long way. We walked from Luxor down to Treasure Island to pickup tickets for Mystere and it took us around 4 hours. But that is with stopping in at every hotel along along the way!

My husband and I really enjoyed the Luxor when we were there a couple of years ago. Our room was in the tower, quite large, and away from the noise of the casino. In general, the Luxor seemed a lot less hectic than other casino hotels we went to, maybe because it isn't center Strip. The rates dropped considerably after I booked, and they were very gracious about changing the reservation to the lower rate.

My husband and I stayed at the Luxor in 1997. They had just opened the Towers section and we took a room there. The Tower rooms were very nice. The bedroom and the bathroom were both large and well appointed.
If you group is comprised of all adults, I would recommend Bally's. We were just there 2 weeks ago. The rooms are large and comfortable, it was well situated on the strip and there were very few children and teenagers.
Wherever you stay, have a great trip.
