Stay in Seattle downtown or the airport
We will be coming off a cruise and have 2 nights in Seattle. No car. Should we stay near the airport and travel in or get transportation to a hotel in town. Our flight out leaves at noon.

Stay downtown-that's where everything is. If you stay near the airport that's 3 trips between downtown and the airport if you come back into the city the next day, and that cab fare will add up. It's very easy to get a cab or shuttle from your downtown hotel to the airport when the time comes, and then you only will have to pay for one trip between downtown and the airport.

Be careful with the Marriott Waterfront. It's right next to the tracks the freight trains run on, and can be quite noisy if your room is on that side of the building.
Agree with previous posters that not staying at the aiport is the better way to go.

In our 3 nights at the Marriott...water (and train) facing room, 3 floor...I never noticed a train...I did see the tracks. I guess that could be a concern for someone, but was no problem for us. I never saw/heard a train.

Definitely do not stay at the airport! Stay downtown. You could easily kill two days downtown without a car, and te bus system is decent ("ride free" zone downtown until 7PM). The Seatac airport is a ways from downtown Seattle, so you will want to plan to leave your downtown hotel around 9AM for a flight departing at noon, just to be safe, but otherwise that should be plenty of time.
