Stay in Newark or Manhattan?

Hey all- My traveling party is myself and 2 students who are going to be checking out NYU on the last day of our visit to NYCity. I am wondering if the cheaper hotel prices in Newark are worth the time and expense getting over to Manhattan the day and half we have for Times Sqare, shopping at Macy's, taking in a show. Any thoughts? Thanks so much, chillykim

Stay in Manhattan. When are you coming?

Stay in Manhattan. The time and hassle of staying elsewhere are definitely not "worth it."

No - uness you're saving like $500 per night.

If you want to consider NJ, Newark is not the answer. There are some hotels in Jersey City right near the PATH train that get decent reviews if you want to try that. I still think finding an apt. is the answer.

Thanks for all your help. I did go to craig's list but have not found anything

Wow, with the cost of NYU, no wonder you need to keep expenses down, but don't stay anywhere but Manhattan. It would make it very difficult for the students to get the feel for the school and the city.

Hey all- Thanks for the posts. We are staying at the Seaman's and International House. We are getting the student rate of 76.00 per night. Have read some good posts about it on another board. Will post my experience when I get back. Thanks again

Hi chillykim, Can you tell me a little more about this place your staying? I did a search on the net under "Seaman's and International House" and nothing came up. Thanks :)
