we have to visit relatives in Brentwood, which is between the Concord, Livermore area of Northern California. A half hour to 45 minute drive would be ok, to get to Brentwood from wherever we stay. There are tons of chain hotels in the area. What would you suggest would be the most pleasant city to stay in? and if you have any suggestions for a hotel or place like a b and b, that would be most appreciated too.

I'm looking at La Quinta in Livermore right now.

Marge, check TripAdvisor. All I know is that some areas in Concord are not safe, and when our business was in Concord, our clients stayed in Walnut Creek.

Marge, Pleasanton and Walnut Creek are both the best bets for this area. Try hotel Rose in downtown Pleasanton, I think John Madden owns it. Perhaps you can get turkducken.

Wente Vineyard is gorgeous in this area, call them and ask for local lodging, or if they have something.

My old stomping grounds!! I was raised in Brentwood and my husband was born and raised in Concord! Small world!!
We were back visiting relatives last September, and we stayed at the Walnut Creek Marriott on North Main. It was a wonderful hotel in an excellent location. Have a great time on your trip.

thanks everyone. I grew up in San Leandro and went to college at Berkeley. It's been a few years and I'm not overly familiar with the Brentwood area where my dad lives now.
