Stay in Breckenridge?
Thinking about going to Breckenridge for the snow sculptures next weekend and maybe a day of snowboarding. Any cheaper places to stay than what I'm finding online? How far is Silverthorne? Is it cheaper there?
First timers as you can tell
Thanks!

Frisco is really that close to Breck? We've been to Frisco and I really love it there! I didn't know where it was in relation to Breck! Yay!
However, I'm looking at expedia, etc...and nothing is available for next weekend in our price range. Wah!

Yup, AAA- the savings really do add up.
Any cheap places to rent a snowboard? We just need one...and do boots usually come with it?
I've never done it before. Fiance has and he's all set.
Any info would be great!

Have only been in the area during the summer. But, even then, Frisco is a cheaper choice. My brother, who has gone there many times to ski, always chooses Frisco. And, in fact, is doing so again in a couple of weeks. We always rent a condo through Americana Properties in Dillon.

We really enjoyed Breck. Went there almost the exact same time (a few years back).
I think you are traveling on a budget, but DO consider taking a lesson. The instructors there are great - and it's easier to learn from a stranger than fiance or SO. Well, from my personal experience and close friends'!

ellaphant --- Breckenridge has installed a new, less than free, parking policy. From Frisco you can take the free Summitt Cty bus system which runs each hour from Frisco to Breck. Breck has nstalled a new gondola system from the middle of the old free parking lots. The parking fee is $10. The "free" lots have been moved further out and are serviced by shuttles buses that take you to the gondola. The gondola is handy for getting onto the mountain will min fuss.

Yes, please take a lesson. Three weeks ago, I watched a guy try to give his girlfriend a snowboard lesson. It was scary! He would pick her up and give her a push. She had no control, no idea how to stop and barely missed a tree on an easy slope.
