stay at Mandalay Bay or Treasure Island?
staying 4 nights - like the MB but looks like it is very South but looks superior in quality to TI - not a gambler - plan to relax see the buildings maybe daytrip to Hoover Dam or Red Rock Canyon - trying to decide which one to stay at

You are right, it is at the far end of the strip, but so much nicer than TI - which is at the other end of the strip. The shuttle train goes down the strip from MB, making it easy to get around if you don't want the long walk. If you're not a gambler, MB would be my choice of the two.

If you want to spend all your time checking the sights in Vegas itself and not have a car, then you might want to find a more central location, but if you will be going to some of the neat places in the area, like Red Rock Canyon, Valley of Fire, Hoover Dam, Death Valley, etc., then MB is great, easy in and out without having to deal with the mid-strip traffic. It is also much nicer, and there is a tram stop there.

"The shuttle train goes down the strip from MB" - sorry, not exactly. The free shuttle goes to Excalibur and NY NY only, the monorail that runs along the strip, but behind large casinos starts on the other side, behind MGM.
