Staten Island Ferry

Can someone please tell me where I can catch the Staten Island Ferry? I'm having unexpected trouble finding the answer.
Thank you

THe Staten Island Ferry Terminal is at the very southern end of Manhattan, and the last stop on the #1 train. The closest park is just across the street which is Battery Park. Alot of the bus lines also begin/end at the ferry terminal as well.

Hope this helps.

I'm embarrassed to ask...Train? Does that mean an actual train or a subway?

Thank you.

It means subway (the #1 line), and you can find lots more info on the Staten Island ferry here:

Hi

My wife and I took the Staten Island ferry when we went to NYC a couple of years back. As previous poster said...there is a ferry terminal on the south end of Manhattan. I have posted a bit of info about our experience in a trip report with pictures on my homepage http://gardkarlsen.com/new_york_city_trip_report.htm . Maybe you can find some useful information there.

If you choose to take the subway, and it's on a weekend, there maye be some service disruptions (they do maintenance on the subway lines during the weekends which frequently means skipping stops, etc.). I think there was a recent mentieond the #1 to so. ferry wasn't running on the weekends. There are several other trains that go to the bowling green area that are also very close.

You can check such service advisories on the MTA website: http://www.mta.nyc.ny.us/nyct/service/subsrvno.htm

I think NY1.com and 101wins.com also post that info.

Sorry, that's 1010wins.com not 101wins.

I'm not sure of the scheules, but we took the #1 to South Ferry. The ferry terminal is right there. You go into the big lobby where all the people are clumped waiting and you'll see the electonic board listing the next departure time. The Ferry is free.

At the other side you have to exit the ferry and go around to the lobby on that side to reboard. I guess if it is really crowded you might have to wait for a later boat, but boath times I did it, I cme back on the same one.

On weekends only (weekdays this does not apply), the #1 will end at 14th street until Fall 2006. There is a bus on Broadway, between 13th & 14th sts that goes to So. Ferry.
