State Fair/Strawberry Festival

Hi All,
looking for comparisons between the Florida State Fair and the Strawberry Festival in Plant City. We have been to the State Fair and enjoyed it. Makes for a pretty full day of activity. We are thinking of going to the Strawberry Festival but are not sure what to expect. Is it as big as the State Fair? Is there enough to do for an entire day?

The way the promote it, it sounds bigger than the Worlds Fair - just kidding of course, but they do promote it as the largest around.

So, anyone been to both or at least the Strawberry Festival and can give us some insight? Since we usually go the night before and stay the night of, so we don't have to drive back, I like to be reassured that it is more than a small county fair.
Thanks,
Duane

We went to the Strawberry Festival several years when we lived in Florida
and I would compare it to a county fair
(with strawberries, of course).

Hi, I have been to both the FL State Fair and the Strawberry Festival, not recently though, and at that time the Strawberry Festival was smaller scale and has many country bands performing, and strawberries, of course. We didn't spend much time there because we didn't attend any of the concerts. Not sure how far you are driving, but we are in St. Pete, close by, and drove there, spent several hours, and drove back home.

The Strawberry Festival at Plant City is a fairly big deal. Certainly bigger than either the world famous Swamp Cabbage Festival in LaBelle or the Everglades Skunk Ape Festival in Ochopee.

Thanks for the responses. NeoPatrick, I like your comparisons. If someone didn't live hear they would think you are making this up :) We have been to the "world famous Swamp Cabbage Festival in LaBelle" but haven't had the pleasure of attending the Everglades Skunk Ape Festival in Ochopee.

We live in Ft Myers so the drive isn't that bad, but we try to make a weekend out of it.
Thanks again,
Duane

One thing about living in SW Florida -- there's enough unbelievable stuff to report without having to make anything up.
