Starr Pass, Tucson Lodging
I am going to a conference at the end of this month at the JW Marriott at Starr Pass, the hotel is booked, so is the Starr Pass Golf Suites. Does anyone know of a good close alternate hotel?

Starr Pass is close to downtown so the downtown so the Radisson Hotel on Broadway may be your best big hotel. There are dozens of hotels along the freeway in that area. If you want something with a little more charm, there are also some B n B's in the area. Unfortunately, you'll need a car if you're not staying at the host hotel.

Thank you for your reply, do you know the name of a nice B & B close to Starr Pass, I may try that route.

I hate to say this but downtown Tucson is not pleasant to stay in and the motels along I-10 in that area are pretty grim too. The entire area is sadly in need of urban renewal. I understand you need to be close, but I'd not choose anywhere down that way to stay (and I live in Tucson). There is a Hampton Inn at Grant and I-10, the hotel itself is probably OK, but again the neighborhood is less then attractive. You might try the University Marriott (adjacent to the UofA) as they may have summer rates. It is a nice hotel with some shops, restuarants, etc. next to it.

I would suggest you look at visittucson.org Should be able to find the B & Bs there. I agree with Lori that downtown Tucson is not terrific, but the Radisson is not bad and there are some nice restaurants within walking distance.
Whatever you do, you will need a car. Vera |
