Stair walks in san francisco, help with book title
I am trying to find the title and publisher if possible of a book I have seen recommended on this forum giving details of walks in San Fran using staircase routes. I have trawled back through some posts but can't find details. I want to order the book but need more info.
Many thanks Hilary

Stu,
Do you know if the 16th Avenue Stairs have been added to the new edition?
planningahead,
The mosaic-tiled stairs at 16th Avenue and Moraga (in the Golden Gate Heights portion of the Inner Sunset district) are worth going to, for the stairs themselves and the view westwards towards the sea. They're in a very quiet, non-touristy neighborhood close to the more bustling Ninth Ave./Judah area. The number 66 bus would take you there.

I have ordered the book from Amazon UK, hopefully I will get the December 2006 version - which is what I ordered. Anyway we we definitely make the effort to climb the tiled steps - thanks Dovima

Dovima and Stu
I have received the book today, it DOES contain the mosaic tile stairway, in fact there is a picture on the cover. The latest book is 6th edition, January 2007.
Now I have to work out which walks we can leave out as we will only have 4 full days in San Fran, I'm guessing Alcatraz will have to be at night!!

Stu, Thank you!!!! for recommending Madrona Manor. We stayed there for 3 nigts a couple of weeks ago and it was a wonderful experience. We were in the Carriage House King Room w/Balcony and the view rivalled that which we had off our B&B in Tuscany. We had the tasting menu in their fine restaurant on the night of our arrival. A georgeous warm night on the veranda w/orange blossoms perfuming the air. This is one of the great treats of participating on Fodor's, the wonderful recommendations of other posters!!
