St. Simons

All, will be staying at the King and Prince soon, any tips on nice places to eat dinner around that area?

The Lodge at Sea Island which is actually on St. Simons has a good restaurant. Delaney's is a good dinner spot. There are several other good upscale restaurants and I'll repost when I think of their names.

The Crab Trap just down the street from the King & Prince is our favorite casual seafood restaurant. Some people prefer Crabdaddy's next door to the Crab Trap. It's also casual.

We have never thought the food at the King & Prince is very good (husband attends an annual conference there) but we were there last weekend and the food was better. The renovated room was also much improved. Now, K&P just needs to redo the lobby and common areas.

We've always enjoyed Chelsea - directly across the street from Crab Trap and Crabdaddy's. It's not as casual, and you'll probably need reservations.

They have a website: http://www.chelsea-stsimons.com/

padams421-
Thank you for your info. I will look into it the dinner spots. This will be our first time at K and P, we usually are in HH at this time, but the Wives wanted a change. Are the shops close to K and P, or will they have to drive?
Thank you again.

Rookie- Thank you for your time. I will also check the site out for Chelsea. We enjoy a nice dinner after a day of golfing, and would really! like some good southern food in that area.

Agreed with Delayney and Crab Trap; my experience is to avoid Mullet Bay (too crowded, too many kids, iffy service, very long waits both for table and food, inconsistent quality).

Hmmm, southern food? My long-time favorite was Alfonse's but it burned to the ground several years ago and was not re-built. There is a place on Mallory St., but the name escapes me for the moment. It is fairly small and often has a wait, but they do have a tiny bar.

Another good red meat place (steaks, veal/pork/lamb chops, etc.) is Bennie's Red Barn on Frederica just beyond Sea Palms.

Some day I'll learn to google before I post! It's Barbara Jean's, and they too have a website. Good ol' southern "comfort" food. :)

No shops within walking distance of the K&P but there's plenty of shopping around St. Simons. Don't just stick to the shops in "downtown" St. Simons. The K&P can provide you with a map of the shopping areas.

Thank you all for your time and information. I will look into all the suggestions.

Just returned from K&P. We enjoyed Chelseas and Crabdaddys for dinner. Good Casual food and close enough not to take the car. The room needed a little up-dating, but they were spacious and good access to the beach. We enjoyed the Beach atmosphere the best. Having a beer on a beach without getting bothered was very relaxing. Thank you for your tips!...
