St. Pete Beach, Florida

Going to the St. Pete Beach area with a bunch of friends (late 20's) for New Year's. I desperately need suggestions on something to do on New Years Eve! Resturants, bars, lounges, parties, events, anything....Any area within an hour of St. pete. We are not really into clubs though.
Thanks for the help!!

I Know that Ybor City in Tampa is an up and coming area with shops, bars, resturants and clubs.

Amy, you might be interested in a club/dance place on Sunset Beach/Gulf Blvd. in Treasure Island, next to St. Pete Beach ... Beachnuts. Basically a 20's crowd. This is a pretty informal area, so I would not expect anything too elaborate. Have you talked with your hotel? You might find more action in the Clearwater beach area. Ciao

amy - if you're not into clubs, Ybor isn't for you. every hotel on the beach and lots of restaurants will have a nye party. what's your preference? live music? what kind? try www.tbo.com or www.sptimes.com or www.weeklyplanet.com or www.citysearch.com (then click on tampa bay). hope this helps
Thanks for the suggestions! I have been to the area once or twice before but I do not know enough to make actual plans. How far is Clearwater? Any resturant/bar suggestions in that area?

Amy, Clearwater beach is about 20-25 minutes driving time from St. Pete beach .... straight north on Gulf Blvd. Good restaurant is Salt Rock Grill in Indian Shores, on the way. Ciao

There's a great restaurant a few miles south in Pass-a-Grille called Hurricane's. It's 2 or 3 floors, with an outdoor bar on the roof, I think. I only ate dinner there once, and it was pretty dead, since it was mid-week and off-season. The waitress (very nice and great service) said that the place really gets hopping on weekends. Younger crowd, and great food and drink specials, plus the secluded, quite atmosphere of Pass-a-Grille. Hope you like it!
