St. Pete Beach accomodations and resteraunts

Hi! Thanks for your replies to my last post, St. Pete w/6 and 7 yr. olds. Unfortunately son broke his arm and trip was postponed.
My question is does anyone have any info/experience with the Beach Haven villas in St. Pete. Is it in a nice area etc...
Also, I read that Guppy's and Hurricane's were the two best places to get some seafood, true? Thanks!

Hi angiedora! I live just north of SPB and so I can tell you that Guppy's is very good - it is a bit north however, about ten miles I'd guess - on Indian Rocks Beach. Now, the Hurricane is best known for their great sunset view. They used to have a great grouper sandwich, but have gone downhill over the years. My advice would be to see the sunset at the Hurricane (while drinking an umbrella drink) and then take your kids to Sea Critters, which is about a mile away (you'll pass it on the way to the Hurricane). There's a patio and dock out back - your kids can feed the catfish that cluster there. Our kids used to love that - and the food is pretty good too. Also on St. Pete Beach, try Skidder's and Snapper's. Both are good. For breakfast try Le Croisette...mmm! Also we enjoy the downstairs casual restaurant at the Don CeSar beach resort. And you can't leave without a drink and a shrimp popper at Woody's, on the water at the northern end of SPB. Hope this helps!

Don't know Beach Haven villas - sorry!

I recent ate at Hurricane's for the first (and last) time... great great view but the food was terrible (and I'm not picky! I'll eat anything that's put in front of me!). I would definitely give it a skip and try somewhere else.

Thank you both for your replies. I will definitely skip Hurricanes for seafood. I plan to try out Guppy's and Sea Critters for sure. We're thinking about spending one night in Tarpon Springs to see the "Sponge Capital of the World". Not sure where to stay though. Thanks for your help, I love planning trips almost as much as taking them!

There's a Sheraton Four Points on US 19 near Tarpon Springs. It's either in Tarpon Springs or nearby Palm Harbor. There are probably other hotels near, but I don't know their name. For the best Greek food, I highly recommend the Greek chow mein at Mr. Souvlaki. It's not at the sponge docks, but is close by. It is the best!
