St. Patty's Day

I'll be in chicago for St Patty's day weekend. Which clubs are good for meeting up with a lively crowd(lated twenties\early thirties). I like dance clubs, blues and swing music. I am staying downtown but will have a car. Thanks for any suggestions.

Brian-- it's St. PADDY's Day! You won't be allowed into Chicago until you get it right.

Pretty much any bar in the Lincoln Park area will be crowded. Last year I tried going to Irish Oak but there was a very long line. Irish Eyes would also be fun but you should get there early to get a table.

Stephen - what value did you add with your posting?

Actually St. Paddy's day is frowned upon by most self-respecting Irishmen, as a paddy wagon was used by police in bygone days to cart off drunken, unruly Irishmen-not an endearing term!

You must know different Irishmen than me, as they often refer to each other as "Paddy". My husband proudly calls himself a PWA-Paddy with an attitude. He actually is from Ireland, not Boston or New York or Cleveland, with a great aunt on his mother's side from somewhere in Cork.

Personally have no problem myself as an Irishman, but have been told in no uncertain terms that the word , "paddy" is a put-down for the reason that I mentioned. I'm 2nd generation Irish and have been to Ireland and have never heard the word paddy in any reference there.
