St. Patricks Day accommodation
I am bringing my wife,8 yr old daughter and elderly (but hyperactive mother ) from Liverpool to NYC for the weekend of March 9 thru 12-then onto Boston for seven nights.
I want a memorable hotel in NYC and a family friendly hotel or B and B in Boston .I expect we will need either 2 rooms or a suite.
We are a Liverpool/Irish family and I want to make it the trip of a lifetime.
Can anybody recommend some fancy hotels which would actually be worth the money?
Any tips on must-do's (particularly with an Irish flavour) would be much appreciated

Avoid the Fitzpatrick-fake Fenians meet formica and Paddywhackery abounds!

What would make your stay "memorable",so we can help suggest a place that fits the bill?

I hope you understand what St. Pat's day in New York is like...and are prepared for the insanity!

Marlena in NYC

Wow! I was in NYC last year for St. Patricks Day and it was fantastic but very busy!! Just remember there are going to be lots of people around and if you want to eat at any Irish type pub you better make a reservation. The parade is nice but there are mostly just bands and bagpipes. The church service at St. Patricks Cathedral is nice if you wanted to see it. Everything is right downtown and it is easy to walk around.

Thanks Marlena-
My mother would like a smart hotel where she could watch the Beautiful people parade in the lobby whilst she is babysitting!
Thanks Jennifer-
We will be in NYC the weekend before St Pats-can you recommend a hotel in NYC or Boston worth spending some serious money on?
Ian-get a life!

Hi Sean:
I would recommend the Marriott Marquis for your Mom's people watching.
It is in the heart of NYC so you'll be able to find your way easily.
St Patrick's Day is a crazy day so be prepared.
I suggest you book your hotel as soon as possible,
Don't miss the Kinsale Tavern East 93 St and 3rd Ave. The Pubs and Restaurant along 3rd Avenue will be packed but full of fun...Have a great time!

Thanks AC-
I had been thinking of the Marriot Marquis but they dont seem to feature on any discount hotel sites.I can only get rack rates off their website.
Ideally I am looking for a suite-what do you think would be a good rate for the second weekend in March?
Am I likely to get a better rate if I wait until February to book?
|
Hi Sean:
I am the super organized type, so I would book now. Keep looking though, if you get a cheaper price cancel the earlier reservation and re-book. February might be too late.
I don't think you'll get any bargains for that week
I just checked the Marriott web site. Yikes, the prices are high!!!!
Maybe you should call directly. 212-398-1900 or from UK toll-free
0800 221222 Good Luck!

Thanks AC-will do.
AC was a good friend to OJ too!
If anyone sees any bargain deals in NYC the weekend of March9/11,please let me know.
