St. Louis Trip Report
 

One and a half days in St. Louis:

Breweries/Brewpubs: made it to 9 of them (Six Row, Anheuser, Morgan Street, Square One, Buffalo, Urban Chestnut, Kirkwood Station, Ferguson). Urban had the best overall beer, Ferguson had the worst overall.

The Gateway Arch: very cool, walked around the grounds and went to the top. Riding to the top and being at the top is kind of scary but worth it. Only thing my wife and I did not like was how crowded and loud it was at the top. Too many people allowed up there at once.

Walked around a bit between Busch Stadium and the Edwards Jones Dome, checking out the Outside area of the Historic Courthouse and the Kiener Plaza. Ran into the TUMS building, had no idea.

Saw the Chuck Berry statue in the loop.

Had mac & cheese at Cheese-ology: good mac & cheese with lots of choices (kind of pricey).

Checked out Scottrade Center and hockey statues.

Checked out Busch Stadium and baseball statues. Did not tour.

Saw the Kung-Fu Rabbit.

Checked out edward Jones Dome (worthless looking junk, can hardly tell the Rams play there).

We did not get to try any BBQ, we tried to get into Pappy's three different times and tried to get into Bogart's once. Every time we tried, the line was out the door and was going to take too much time away from our short trip.

Stopped by the IceZone at The Mills to see the Blues practice. Got to meet and get autographs from Bernie Federko and a radio or tv announcer (forgot his name).

So basically beer and Busch bash? You found the pubs but not the Cards in action I gather. Seems like mostly a stroll around the city. Next time go to Art Museum or wonderful zoo or even the Arch?

You packed a lot in for one and a half days!!
Too bad on the BBQ. Next time you are here - I have another bbq suggestion. It is relatively unknown but close to the best.

I agree w Bill - Go to Forest Park next time and enjoy the free museums, zoo, bike paths, restaurants, etc..

My wife and I are not into art, visiting museums (most of the time) or zoo's, or aquarium's, etc. when we travel. We have the National Zoo and Baltimore Aquarium around us.

We did visit the arch, second item I mentioned. Saw the Fountain Geyser going off when we were at the top of the arch. Did not get to get a picture of it though.

The Cardinals were out of town and we got to the stadium too late to do a tour.

We are big micro/craft brew fans and keep a list of all places we have visited that brew onsite. Looking to hit 300 0by the end of 2011.

Ok, I'll bite. What's the Kung-Fu Rabbit?

The Kung-fu Rabbit (Nijinski Hare) is a statue across the street from Scottrade on the side with the Blues statues. Just a rabbit in a martial arts stance.

Those dwatted wabbits bug me. There's one at Chatsworth in Derbyshire, one on the Washington University campus, at one of the museums near the Mall in DC.....

You did some impressive brewery hopping. I'd have been interested in your response to Schlafly's, near where we live, but I'm not much of a beer drinker.

annesherrod, can you reveal your BBQ place, for the next time my Q loving brother is in town?

We tried three styles at Schlafly's and liked them all, my favorite was the APA. We just sat and drank on the pub side. The bartenders were not that friendly/welcoming.
