St. Louis Hotels

Will be bringing three teens (boys) to St. Louis for fall break. On the first day plan on going to the Arch in the morning. What other attractions are in the area that they would enjoy doing to fill out the day? Day two, Six Flags. Day three, Grants Farm. Keeping in mind our itinerary, what hotel would work best for us. Would like to keep it under $120 per night if possible, must be safe and clean. Friends recommended staying in St. Charles, but it is 45 minutes to Six Flags. Also don't enjoy fast and busy highway driving. Any help would be appreciated.

I do not think that staying in St. Charles is a good idea. It is way too far from the major sites and would involve a lot of driving in traffic. There is a Drury Inn next door to Union Station that would be nice but almost all of the major chains have hotels in the downtown area. Also, I would skip Grant's Farm with teen boys. It is really more appropriate for small children and older kids would find it boring. You should check out the City Museum which is downtown. It really is unique and quite amazing. The St. Louis zoo is very nice if you want to see animals. The Transportation Museum would be a good choice for teen boys too, I think. It has lots of airplanes, etc. Good luck!

I agree skip Grants Farm for teens. The zoo and the Art Museum and the History Museum and the Science Museum are all in Forest Park and you could work any of these in with a tour of the Arch. The City Museum is alot of fun for all ages it is also right downtown. As far as not liking the fast and busy highway driving there really is no way to avoid it if you are going from downtown to Six Flags. Just stay out the passing lane and you will be just fine. You might want to ckeck out the South County area for a hotel you will find better rates and based on your spots to visit would be more centrally located. The other place that has specials on the weekend is the Embassy Suites at Lacledes Landing this is also a fun place to stay you might give them a call just to check. Hope you enjoy your visit.

Skip St. Charles and s. county. You will not get a great taste of st. Louis in either place.
The marriott court yards are nice and in safe areas w/in the central corridor of st. Louis,
Walk around lacledes landing for lunch.
Go to the zoo and/or Museum in Forest park. Union Station has some fun restuarnat s for teens.

Thanks to those that replied to my questions!! Does anyone else have an opinion about whether or not teenage boys would enjoy Grants Farm. What about the Science Center?

I think that it depends on the boys. My husband and I (26 years old) just took by brother and his wife (28 years old), and we all love it. There are animals, and history, and the clydesdales... Budweiser merchandise, hospitality, etc. The brewery tour is also fun, but without the animals. I would recommend not staying in St. Charles for the things you plan to do. There is a newly renovated Sheraton on 14th Street that is clean, and close to downtown, Busch Stadium, Union Station, Kiel Center, etc. That would be my recommendation. It is reasonably priced, as well. The Science Center is cool, but your boys may have outgrown it. I was there last year for the first time since college, and both times, I felt it was geared toward a younger audience. The City Museum is a great stop! All ages find something interesting and cool to do there. There are also Stadium Tours that are fun for anyone who loves Sports. I would recommend that, as well.
