St Louis dinner on a Sunday night?
 

Just found out that we are going to be in St Louis this weekend...arriving on Sun and leaving on Tue. We will be going to ball game on Mon evening but thought we would like to go to dinner on Sun evening...all of our favorites seem to be closed on Sun - any recommendations?
Our favorites while in St Louis include:
Red Door
Tony's
Eleven Eleven
although we have a car we would prefer not to drive very far that evening, staying at the Westin -
we were thinking about
Mike Shannon's
Clark's Grill at The West

any good ideas?

I assume you mean Red Moon...not Red Door.

A couple of ideas not too far from downtown and open on Sunday nights:

Sqwires. It's in Lafayette Square (close to Eleven Eleven) 1415 South 18th Street 314-865-3522

Sunday nights can be kind of tough for decent restaurants. Hopefully one of these will work for you.

I realized I never answered your original question about Shannon's or Clark Grill, probably because I've never been to either one. They both have reputations as perfectly fine pre and post ball game options, and if you don't want to drive, they are probably your best bets.

I've been to Sqwires many times. It is built into a former wire factory (Lafayette SQuare and Wire = Sqwires) so the space is divided into two parts. There is a bar, some tables and a small market area on the left as you walk in. There are often local bands playing. On the right is the real dining area. The food is always good, the menu is seasonal.

Terrene is on my list to try. Friends went last weekend and really enjoyed it and I've heard mostly positive things about the food, but that it is often very loud. May not be a huge problem on a Sunday night, and I think Red Moon is really loud, so if you can handle that, you should be able to deal with any other restaurant.

I agree that Sunday nights, especially in the city, can be difficult as many restaurants are closed.

I too really enjoy Sqwires. As noted above, its in a neat building and the live music is fun. The food is good.

To be honest, I didn't really care for Clark's Grill. I went for lunch once, right after the Westin opened, and wasn't really impressed at all. The food was mediocre and on the cold side. Not long after I went there was a negative write-up about it in the Post-Dispatch. Please keep in mind that this was several years ago. Since they've been open for awhile now, I imagine they probably worked out some of the "kinks", but I thought I would share.

I wish I had some more info to share, but perhaps others from St. Louis can chime in as well.

I just thought of another possibility. DH and I ate at Eau Bistro last weekend and the food was pretty good. Kind of expensive but the service was excellent. They are located in the Chase Park Plaza, in the Central West End. ALthough not quite in the downtown area, its only about a 5-10 minute drive. We were there Saturday, but it looks like its opened Sunday evenings as well.
