St. Louis Airport area restaurants
Hi, I find myself heading to the St. Louis Airport Renaissance Hotel on Wednesday for a meeting. My traveling companions may or may not be interested in traveling any distance for meals. So, the question is, are there any halfway decent restaurants within a few miles of this property? Thanks so much for any suggestions.

I really, really recommend you take the Renaissance shuttle to the light rail and head to Chez Leon in the Central West End. OK, that's traveling and involves some effort.
Near the airport the only place I can think of is the Lombardo's in the Drury Inn. It's a family run place in St Louis. I've only eaten at their restaurant in the Drury Inn Union Station and thought their food excellent. I especially like the flash fried spinach. Across the airport from the Renaissance is the 94th Aero Squadron. I've only had Sunday brunch there and thought it very good for a brunch. |
I am sorry to report that there really are NO decent restaurants in that neck of the woods.
I would reccomend splitting a taxi ride to Clayton - just a few miles down the innerbelt - and go where there are world class restauarnts. You will be glad you did!! Some favorites are: Remy's - great wine and food Cafe Napoli - American/Italian Figaro's Miso's - Asian flair All are good and have a nice atmosphere. |
If you're going all the way to Clayton, you might as well go to the dining room at the Ritz-Carlton. Versace charger plates, waiters in tuxedos, a cigar bar, it's some excellent dining.

Thanks for the words of advice. I was afraid the options would be limited. I'll see if I can talk them into venturing forth. Thanks again.

94th Aerosquadron closed down a couple of years ago, so that won't be an option. There really aren't alot of placea around the airport. YOu could take a taxi out to Harrah's or the Ameristar Casino in St. Charles- about a 10-15 minute taxi ride.

Indytravel - when you say "all the way to Clayton" you make it sound as if it so terribly far away.
It is about 5 minutes from the airport. I would suggest trying something unique to St. Louis and not a Chain Hotel restaurant(albeit we all know the Ritz is very Nice) Hope you have a good experience. |
