St. Louis - 2 adults with limited time

My DH and I will be in St. Louis next week for a conference. We will have Tuesday evening, Wednesday afternoon, Thursday afternoon and possibly Friday morning free. What highlights do you suggest this time of year? Maybe a good (not too expensive) dinner Tuesday and suggestions for lunches on Wednesday and Thursday. We are staying at the Renaissance Grand Hotel on Washington Avenue. The only thing we know we want to do is go to the Anhauser Busch brewery. Is that something that fits into an afternoon so that we could be back to the hotel for events in the evening? Not sure how far it is from the hotel.

OK, I'll jump in...definitely St. Louis Zoo is one of the best in Forest Park. Don't really see the brewery as a must see...other sites might be Climatron, Jewell Box (also in Forest Pk), of course the Arch and area around. And if I ever go back I'd like to see the Transportation Museum which must be larger than years ago.

Brwery tour is very interesting. Make sure you see the stable for the Clydesdale that is attached. The architecture and details for these creatures is amazing.

Will you have a car?

There are some nice restaurants on Washington Ave.

I will post back some ideas. If you have a car and want to explore mid town there are tons of great restaurants!

I'm about the LAST person who could give advice on good restaurants, but this page on Saint Louis eats does mention some tasty morsels you should try to find:

The art museum has perhaps the finest collection of German expressionist paintings in the world, the Morton D May collection, and a lot of other nice stuff as well.

The City Museum is incredibly unique, zany and creative, located in an old shoe factory downtown, I think around vicinity of 18th and Washington Ave's. You won't be disappointed if you check it out...definitley redefines the concept of a museum!

You could go to Leclede's Landing area downtown for food. Many nice restaurants there and if mild weather you can sit outdoors. The Fox theatre is worth seeing even if u dont catch a show . check what is currently playing.
