St. Louis - 1 night.
 

Will be spending one night in St. Louis in June. Booked at the Drury Inn, Union Station on 20th st..Is this an ok location? And since we will have only a few hours day of and day after to explore, can anyone suggest must do/or see? Have seen/been in the Arch but not up.Where to have dinner that night? I this close to Leary's or Figaros? thanks

I am not familiar with the restaurants you mentioned, however, downtown there is not an overabundance of things to do. If you would like a nice steak place, you may liek Mike Shannon's downtown. Charlie Gitto's downtown is a casual, fun, loud, Italian place too. Great food at both. Harry's is just downt the road from where you are staying with a good view of the city.

If we were in St Louis, we would drive to The Hill for Italian! Hands down, no question! If you are interested in Italian food ask around and get directions to The Hill. There are many restaurants there, our favorite is Gian Tony.

Drury Inn is fine. Go up in the arch, its worth it. Ask at the Drury for directions to the "Hill". Eat at Cannetos,Favazzas or Charlie Gittos. Great food. The Fox has some great evening entertainment.

There are some great restaurants downtown depending on what you want to spend. One of my favorites is Sidney Street Cafe. There is also Frazier's Traveling Brown Bag a casual restaurant that have a chalkboard menu with tons of seafood,and lots of other items like steaks, soups, pasta etc. For very fancy the best are Tony's and Kemoll's. Go visit the City Museum it's not just a kids place and take a tour of Anheuser Busch. go up in the arch if you aren't closterphobic it's fun. Union Station is fun to roam around in especially if the weather is bad. Right behind Union Station is Upper Limits which is a climbing wall place and lots of fun. St Louis has it from A-Z they always say and lots of it is downtown where you will be.

it has been awhile since i have eaten there but Lombardo's is an italian restaraunt in the drury and used to be very good.

I work right behind Union Station and our clients usually stay at the Drury you are referring to. While the location is fine, its about 10-12 blocks from most of the downtown sites. Will you be driving? Its probably a little too far for walking distance. The Metrolink has a stop at Union Station that will take you to the baseball stadium.

Lombardos is a terrific restaurant. A little pricy but really good food, and its in the Drury. Also a block away on 20th is Maggie O'Briens, a sports bar restaurant that serves decent food. Landry's (seafood) and Kriegers (sports bar) are both great and located in Union Station. Union Station is neat but definitely geared towards the tourist. There are a lot of St. Louis shops selling anything and everything with "St. Louis" on it, including t-shirts, keychains, magnets, etc. There really isn't too much else going on.

Definitely visit the hill if you can. Favazza's is my favorite, but Cunetto's, Zia's, and Bartolino's are also really good.

Another fun place to visit is the landing, although mostly filled with bars. Dooley's downtown (on 6th street) is a great "english pub" like restaurant with wonderful cheddar burgers.

If you decide to go to Cunetto's, plan for a whole eveing experience. The wait is typically very long, but the food is good. I think they are closed on Mondays. It all depends on if you will have your own car.
