St Helena advice?

I'm looking for a semi "low-end" place to stay in or near St Helena. I know several of the B&Bs and nice hotels. But this will just be for a place to sleep after a late meeting on a week night in June. It will be too late for me to comfortably drive home so I'm more looking for just a motel or more basic hotel. I figure just about anywhere along the Napa/Yountville/St Helena corridor would do.

Any ideas?? thanks

Try the El Bonita in St. Helena. Midweek rates are not too bad.

Lost track of this thread - thanks for the suggestion.

Any others??

Maybe something in Calistoga? Really only looking for a "crash pad" - clean/decent but no special amenities needed for this stay.

In Calisoga, you could try the Golden Haven Spa.

In Napa there's the Redwood Inn just off 29 at Redwood/Trancas exit. It used to be the Motel 6 but has been upgraded.

The least expensive place to stay in Calistoga is very basic (and I think it has shared baths) - Calistoga Inn. Otherwise, the spas are often a good deal for the area, Calistoga Spa, Dr. Wilkenson's, etc.
El Bonita in St. Helena or the St Helena Hotel. Napa Valley Redwood Inn in Napa is fine - near Trancas freeway exit and across from Starbucks and Vallerga's. Some of the Napa B & B's have a very small room, basic style, basic price, that might fit your need. Check websites. La Residence, Ink House, and Beazley's used to have 1 low-priced room.

El Bonita is a nice suggestion, there is also a Best Western and Comfort Suites North in Calistoga that we have enjoyed. Have fun! ***kim*** ((f))

The El Bonita is a "unique" motel..It reminds me of the old fashioned type called "auto courts" I know that goes back to the 50s. It is up to date and clean--of course weekday rates are more reasonable...("reasonable" for the Napa Valley is relative term)
I think you would enjoy the experience...

We stayed at the El Bonita a couple of years ago. It is just as Traveler24 describes - I would definitely stay there again. Be sure to check out Taylor's Refresher down the street if you like burgers and garlic fries.

janisj-
Another "off the freeway" place is 'Bel Abri- a French Country Inn' in Napa. It is on the newer side, clean and avail. for $129. Seems safe enough. I didn't check the rates for El Bonita or NV Redwood Inn, but I think they are in the same price range. Forget LaResidence and Ink House; those budget rooms exist no more.
