St Gregorys Hotel M St

Priceline can be a great tool - but if you're looking for something specific, not so much. At any rate, I have 6 of my sisters coming to DC and I have booked two rooms at St. Gregory's on 2033 M St. not too far from the Dupont Circle metro.
I wish I would have just picked the hotel I wanted but I am trying to make the best of this now that it's done. I had planned to get a hotel near Union Station so that we could easily get around to the usual DC attractions.
Has anyone had any experience at this hotel? If so (or even if you're just familiar with the area), is there much to do within walking distance of this hotel?

DC is geographically compact. The St. Gregory is close to both the DuPont Circle and Foggy Bottom Metros. It is a nice, 10-15 minutes stroll to Georgetown. There are tons of restaurants nearby. Much better, I'd argue, than Union Station.

Don't know the hotel but the location is great. Plenty of restaurants and shopping. Actually I thinks it's a better location than Union Station.

I have a reservation for the Dupont Hotel, which I think is closer to the Metro. The price for the St. Gregory is quite a bit better as the AAA rate includes parking. Anyone familiar with both properties have an opinion about one over the other? Thanks.

Dupont Hotel was recently renovated, but the rooms are smaller. Closer to the Metro. It's a better location.

The Dupont Hotel is practically on top of the Metro so if that's your priority, I'd go with that.

If price is more of a dictator then go with St. G. Free parking alone is a savings of $25-$35 a day. The hotel is still near a couple of Metro stations, I'd say, 7-12 minutes depending on your pace. As MikeT as said, DC is pretty compact and if you're at all mobile and a walker, the Mall and White House are easy trips, as is Georgetown.

I don't know the St Gregory personnally but its reviews fair comparably on tripadvisor to the Dupont which I do know.

I've also become a fan of the DC Circulator (http://www.dccirculator.com). It's a simplified Metro bus system that hits most of the popular tourist destinations (Mall, Gtown, Woodley Park, Convention Ctr, Union Sta, even Nationals games) $1 a ride or you can use your Metro pass. I think the Gtown-Union Station route goes past your hotel.

Thanks for answer. Free parking would be a big plus.

I stayed at this Hotel last December and I thought it was a good property. It's about 3 blocks from the Dupont Circle Metro and for me it was within walking distance to the White House( my husband and I are an active couple in our 30s). The immediate area is a bit business-like but there are areas of restaurants withing several blocks and you are within walking distance to Georgetown. I liked Dupont Circle, they had a farmers market there Saturday and Sunday morning.
I thought the rooms at St. Gregory were large, clean and comfortable, I'd definitely stay there again for a Priceline rate. I think its a good value hotel for downtown DC. Here is my tripadvisor review. http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserR..._Columbia.html

Just wanted to follow up - this hotel worked out just perfectly. They did give us the adjoining rooms we were hoping for and staff members were courteous and attentive without exception. The location was good too and we ended up walking to Georgetown that evening which was lots of fun.
