Just last week we spent 1 nite at St. Simon's Island (just loved it there!), 2 nites in Orlando (for a conference), and then 1 nite in St. Augustine. We stayed at a brand-new Holiday Inn about 1 mile from the historic district, but would next time choose something in the center of historic St. Aug. Just loved the place! I would think that 8 days would allow you to do both coasts with just a partial day of travel between the two. Have a great time!
