St. Augustine Restaurants

Would like some advice on where to eat in St. Augustine. One breakfast, one lunch, one dinner. We are splurging and staying at Casa Monica. I was hoping for Indian Food but doubt I will find any. Thanks very much.

The Casa Monica is lovely and it has a very nice restaurant. My favorite lunch place is Alcazar and my favorite dinner is at La Parisienne. A more casual but quite good dinner can be found at the Gypsy Cab Company. A downright wonderful vegetarian restaurant is the Manatee Cafe.

Had a great meal at Opus 39. The have a 3 course and a 5 course fixed price dinner. Because of some quirky liquor laws they have a wine store in the back of the restaurant. You have to purchase your wine there and they will bring it to the table. Every bottle of wine that they have is available for tasting.

If you want a good casual seafood place then you can't beat O'Steen's. Their fried shrimp is great & everything is fresh. It is a tradition in our family to go every time we're in the area. My dad really enjoyed the Gypsy Cab Co too but it depends on what type of food you want. We like good food & lots of it at a decent price.

Casa Monica looks great. I'm in my best friend's wedding in St. Augustine this October and we will be staying there.

When I visited this October we went to a spanish/cuban style restaurant that was fantastic. It's called Columbia and it is on St. Georges Street. I believe it's relatively close to Casa Monica. The restaurant features beautiful spanish tile, a waterfall, and a live music trio that goes around the two story dining room.

Here's the link to Columbia's website: http://www.columbiarestaurant.com/st_augustine.asp

I agree with the recommendation of Columbia on St. George St. We loved it and will make a point to go back when we return to St. Augustine.

I grew up in Panama and the Columbia is one of my favorites, too. A great chain.

Columbia is supposedly haunted and the "ghost" turns the temps up and down, fans on and off. Either that or the staff likes to hear tourists complain and then not do anything about it.

Good guava cheesecake.
