Hi, <BR>I'm planning to go to St. Augustine for <BR>a weekend trip. I would like suggestions <BR>on oceanfront hotels that you liked w/ ocean <BR>views and complimentary breakf. <BR> <BR>Also, what would you say were the attractions <BR>not to be missed. <BR>Did you take the carriage tour or train <BR>tours? <BR> <BR>Thanks for any help!

I can't help you with specific hotels, but be aware that portions of St. Augustine Beach are nice, and portions are covered with boulders (no sandy beach). Be sure to ask the hotel if this is important to you. <BR> <BR>We easily explored the historic district intown on foot. No need for one of those tour buses.

Pati, <BR>I can't comment on ocean front hotels, but I was in St. Augustine earlier this year. We stayed in the historic district and used one of the trolley's to get around. The trolley ticket (about $12) was good for 2 or 3 days and we felt it was a good deal. The historic district has narrow streets with limited parking and a car would have been unwise. We used the trolley to just take a ride around and get an overview of the town. We then used it to go to the Fort (forget the name) and also the Fountain of Youth. The historic district is pretty compact but some things are a mile or two out and it was easier to get around this way. We left our car at the Inn. <BR> <BR>I can recommend the St. Francis Inn (oldest Inn) in the historic district, nice rooms with antiques, complimentary breakfast and cocktail hour. We do plan on going back to St.Aug. sometime when we have more time to spend. Enjoy your week end. <BR> <BR>

<BR>of course theres the Castillio and a lesser known fort over on the beach side (ft matanzas)..and marine land...if its still in business....it a run down marine park. if you ever wondered what it would be like to walk around an abandoned theme park...go there.

I don't know if it's too late to help, but we usually stay at Beacher's Lodge. Almost all the rooms are ocean view. A bit pricey peak season, but I accidently discovered a web site that has some of the privately owned units available at a MUCH lower rate. I just booked with them for Father's Day weekend.
