sprucepoint inn in maine
anyone ever stay at this inn? we're planning on a trip there at the end of august. is this an upscale sort of place to stay?

I've never stayed at the Spruce Point Inn but I know people who have and they liked it very much. We also know the previous owners. I would say it is pretty upscale but can be casual, also. It has a wonderful location. I don't know if they still do but they used to offer sailing day trips.Boothbay ia a great place, anyway. Take a trip over to East Boothbay, too.

Never stayed there, tried to book a couple weeks there but either no block of time like that or they didn't do that long, I forget but it is beautiful and the whole Boothbay area is wonderful. We normally stay on Ocean Point and that is a great area to spend the day rock climbing and "swimming".On the way down to the point is a place called Lobsterman's Wharf..our absolute favorite!!!! Make a reservation for dinner;not in the least bit dressy but great food!! Best lobster rolls in the world :-) <BR>Maine is wonderful and although we are staying in Acadia area this year, we will be back to Ocean Point/Booth Bay next year for sure!!! have a great time

My wife and I stayed there, last September, the first 2 nights of a 10 day driving tour of New England and Canada. The inn is wonderfull. It gives you the feeling of growing up in the 1950's; relaxing, quaint, yet very nice. We used the Spruce Point as our focal point while touring Boothbay, Wiscasset, Castine. My wife would have been content just sitting on the porch looking at the ocean. Get one of the ocean view cabins. Also, they make the best Belgium waffles.

I would have to guess that I stayed there about 30 years ago with my parents. I was just a small kid, but I can vividly remember the place. One of my fondest memories, including the lobster wharf that people refer to. I also remember taking a deep sea fishing trip with my father and somewhere I have a picture of me holding a bag full of fish while wearing a soiled sweatshirt. They cooked the fish for us that night at dinner.
