Spring Break - Key West

When is Spring Break? We'd like to avoid it.

Spring break for most colleges and elem, ms, and hs is March 22-26. A few have it the week before. These are the only two weeks I've heard of friends/family having spring break.

Spring Break runs from the end of March through the first part of April. Different schools have Spring Break at different times. Many of the schools in the area that I live in are having their Spring Break during the first week of April this year.

I think March-April with some weeks stronger than others. Suggest you contact Key West CVB for more details.

Spring break at the local university here is always mid-March. Half way through the semester. It's not politically correct for them to have it over Easter.

I asked a police officer once in Daytona and he said they had a six week spring break season there. You might check with the CVB, as suggested, or chamber of commerce, or ask the hotel or inn you are thinking of booking.

Spring break in my part of Texas is the second week of March.

Many schools have spring break during Easter week as well, which falls from April 10-18.

Spring Break is not too bad in Key West. Since there's not a bunch of huge hotels along with miles and miles of beaches, they don't attract a huge SB crowd. Plus it takes a little more effort to get to Key West than just flying nonstop on a jet into the airport then a short bus ride.

I was there last year during the last week of March and there seemed to be a bigger share of college students around, but not like other places I've been to at the same time.

If you're going to freak out if you see more than 3 people between the age of 18 and 22 together: then skip it. Remember: all it takes in Key West is for one mega sized cruise ship to dock and you won't be able to tell there's any Spring Breaker's there.

Thanks, again, to all who responded with some very helpful info!

dweebe: Especially helpful.
We wouldn't freak for any reason but also want to avoid the huge crowds depicted at most SB locations. Thanks for pointing out that KW is a somewhat remote SB area. I hadn't thought of that.
