Spring break in San Diego
 

Help! Looking for spring break idea with 4 17/18 year old girls. Want beautiful beach and warm weather and shopping! San Diego looks awesome but what area? LaJolla? Any rental suggestions? Want to be on the beach.

when is spring break?

Spring break is March 19 through the 28th. What do you think?

It could be either warm or wet and chilly. There's no guarantee. What will be true is that the oean water temp will be iold, in the 50s, and not good for swimming. The beaches are still nice for sitting and/or walking though.

there is no guarantee like Barbara states but the good news is your in SD..one of the prettiest places on earth.
Do make your reservations soon since SD is a fave place for spring breakers.
There is also a Best Western by the Sea in LJ that has pretty cheap rates and the ocean is 2 blocks away.

La Jolla is a beautiful village, with scenic views, fine dining, beaches, and shopping. IMO, it is most suitable for the geriatric set, of which I am one, but even so, I find it boring. It really requires a car to get into the numerous attractions in the central part of San Diego. It definitely is not Spring Break Central.

Google "Spring break in San Diego" to see where Spring Breakers are being coaxed. Mission Beach is often mentioned.

In checking this out, I found that favorite spring break destinations for UCSD students, (right there in LJ), are "rough and raunchy" Lake Havasu, and Las Vegas.

The weather is very iffy as you have been told. It could be very chilly - or warm. As shared, the ocean will be freezing. My daughter's birthday is during that time period and often pool parties were a no go due to cold weather.

Where are you traveling from?

Check out the 2-bedroom suites at the Grande Colonial. It's located one block from the ocean in La Jolla, walking distance to everything (shopping, dining, beaches, museums, etc.) They have new suites and one of them is a 2-bedroom that would be perfect for 4 people traveling together. Their website is http://www.gclj.com. I don't think you can book the suite online so call for availability. Good luck.

Maybe Pacific Beach/Mission Beach..
Look into Catamaran hotel or Bahia hotel.

I know a lot about San Diego and here is the breakdown of t he different areas:

La Jolla - my favorite part of San Diego, but I am 29 years old. It is upscale, gorgeous coves/cliffs, and there are places for you to go to dinner, beach is gorgeous, etc.

Picific Beach -much more spring break style. A lot of the San Diego college students live in this area. It is also very pretty here, but just not as scenic as La Jolla.

Mission Beach - I just think it is dirty. I wouldn't go there.

Don't stay at the Coronado. It is all families and was even boring for me at age 29. If you can afford it, La Valencia in La Jolla is AMAZING.
