Hi Jill

Yes I've flown Spirit. Had no problems. I don't believe they are an old value jet. I've had several friend over the past couple of years fly Spirit. As a matter of fact they are continuosly growing & expanding there destinations. I live in Michigan, and starting the end of June they will be flying to Vegas. We had no problems on this airline. I would definetly fly Spirit.

Air Tran Airlines is the renamed Value Jet.

Catch the Spirit! Jun 20th, 2002 05:42 PM

Fort Lauderdale based Spirit Airlines is NOT the old Atlanta-based Valujet, Atlanta-based Airtran is though! I have flown them for years and they keep getting better and better. They are expanding internationally with flights from FLL to Latin America and also expanding out west alot too. Most planes are newer and clean. Employees are very friendly and it is a very casual environment. Sometimes the pilot sings over the loudspeaker the Spirit song 'catch the Spirit". My biggest gripe is no Freq Flier program that I know of. But they offer direct routes when other carriers make you connect and are financially stable and growing continuously. I woule not worry at all about them. Every airline has negative esperiences that are beyond their control and I am sure this post will have some. Spirit is a privately owned carrier based in Miramar, a suburb of Miami and Fort Lauderdale. Check out www.spiritair.com to read more about the airline.
