Special Transit Alert - Weekend PATH service to WTC suspended until 2020
 

The PATH system has announced that weekend service between Newark Penn Station and the World Trade Center (WTC) will be suspended starting January 5, 2019 and continuing until December 2020. The purpose is to repair the damage in the Hudson River tunnel caused in 2012 by Hurricane Sandy. The WTC station at 12:01 a.m. on Saturdays, reopening at 5 a.m. on Mondays. Regular weekday service is unaffected.

PATH trains from Newark will terminate at Exchange Place. Passenger can get a free ferry at the Harborside Ferry Landing to and from Brookfield Place Terminal (a few blocks from the WTC) each Saturday and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 11:30 p.m..

During the hours that the ferry will not be operating, passengers can take PATH from Newark to Journal Square and transfer across the platform for a 33rd St train to 33rd St in Midtown Manhattan. To get from 33rd St to lower Manhattan (WTC area) you can take the NYC subway (separate fare) . Take a downtown R train (or N train between 12 midnight and 6 AM) to the Cortlandt St station (World Trade Center).

If using NJ Transit from the Airport station you can take the NJ Transit train to NY Penn Station. To get from NY Penn to lower Manhattan (WTC area) take the NYC Subway (separate fare) using a downtown E train to the Chambers St-World Trade Center station or a downtown A or C train to the Chambers St station and then (after exiting the subway) walk along the passageway to the WTC.
