Special Restaurant in NO for anniversary dinner?
 

Staying at Omni Royal Orleans. Any recommendations for a romantic dinner on a Thursday night? Prefer traditional over trendy but not so traditional that its past its prime.

GW Fins is a wonderful choice if you like seafood. I'd also suggest Mr. B's (a Brennan restaurant) or Bayona.

Bennie,<BR>My husband and I spent our 20th anniversary in New Orleans a year ago and had a wonderful time. Congratulations! We also stayed at the Royal Orleans. Mention to them ahead of time that this is an anniversary trip and you may find a bottle of champaign(compliments of the management) in your room upon arrival as we did. It was a fun and unexpected surprise. We enjoyed our anniversary dinner at Bella Luna in a romantic booth watching the river boats go by. The food and service were excellent. Our favorite meal was at Bayona. We went early and the dining room was plenty private and quiet enough for a romantic anniversary dinner. Later, as the rooms filled, the noise level went up a bit as well. The food was exquisite and the service was wonderful.Have fun!

Sorry, but i don't agree with too many above mentioned. All great restaurants but she is looking for romantic place. With the exception of Bella Luna, which can be very touristy on occasion, I would recommend The Bistro at the Maison de Ville Hotel or The Grill Room at the Windsor Court. Also, The Gamay Bistro is a nice quiet somewhat romantic spot. Congratulations!

I had reservations at The Bistro at the Maison de Ville Hotel but ended up cancelling them and eating Irene's... and i have NO REGRETS! It was one of the best meals i've ever eaten!<BR><BR>Only problem is they don't take reservations, but they do have a "piano bar area" for you to wait.

There are so many places to eat in New Orleans. Do a little research on the web look up people's favorite restaurants in a search engine or go to City Search, www.nola.com, pr www.insideneworleans.com and pick one out by type of food, price, location, and review. Martinque on Magazine is good, Peristyle, and there are a few in the Riverbend area that would be nice too. I would avoid the Quarter ot the Marigny area as it is dirty and crowded.

Peristyle is in the Quarter on Rampart Street, no less. Kind of weird to suggest the dirtiest street in the Quarter when you're foolishly bashing the same neighborhood!

Thanks so much for the recommendations. I've been doing tons of research prior to posting but its hard to get a real sense of what's what. I think I've narrowed it down to Peristyle, Gamay Bistro or Bayona. I think we'll try Brennan's for a breakfast, Acme Oyster House for a lunch. Hi Bennie:<BR><BR>I am returning to NO this fall and will make reservations at The Bistro at Maison de Ville. I have the best memories of the excellent food, service, and atmosphere. The rants and raves indicate that The Bistro rates high with Fodorites.

There is a nice relatively new restaurant in the French Quarter called Stella!. It is on Chartres St. in a quiet part of the Quarter, and is a small, family owned place with a romantic atmosphere, attentive professional service and very good food. I think it would be very appropriate based on your message.

Bennie,<BR><BR>Adding our 2 cents worth, we would also highly reccomend Bayona. Check there WEB page. They also have a small dining area in a frescoed room in which we ate last time. There are only a few tables there, so you have a little more feeling of privacy.<BR><BR>To show you what we think of it, we went last year for our anniversary. Because we had reservations for the night we were arriving, we passed on getting bumpod on the flight and getting free 1st class tickets because there was a chance we would miss our reservations.
