Seethworld, Dreamer 2 hit the nail on the head: The dress at Hammersley's is chic but not super fancy. My huband, for example, wore gray slacks, a turtleneck, and blazer. And the place was friendly: I had the feeling that if we came back soon, we'd be treated like old friends. The tables on either side of us were filled with women, and they received good service too--not always the case at "in" restaurants. I think Hammersley's would be a great place for a college graduation celebration. The dining room is relatively small, but groups of 4-8 would be fine. Wonder if they have any private dining rooms? Maybe someone on this board would know. I made reservations a week ahead for a Friday night, but the Red Sox were in the playoffs at home, so maybe getting a reservation was easier than usual.
Congratulations on your son's college graduation! Our son graduated from William & Mary last year, and we had a great celebration at the Williamsburg Inn. (He'll never forget it: They had finger bowls!)
