Special anniversary weekend in SF
Hi all,
We're celebrating our 30th anniversary and through your great recommendations we are staying at the Argonaut next week. We have a few things lined up but I hope we can use this time to enjoy the city and sites at a more relaxed pace. Sort of like our trip to NYC when we walked in Central Park and had drinks and appetizers at the Boathouse on a wonderful Sunday afternoon and then took the boat out on the lake. Seeing the most beautiful sites of SF, experiencing some the grand hotels, sites and sounds, famous lounges and eateries are high on the list of things to do. I appreciate your thoughts. |
A drink at Top of the Mark.
Have a lovely weekend!!! |
Dear Gregory:
There is a great Vietnamese/Asian fusion restaurant at Ghiradelli Square called Ana Mandara. The atmosphere is colonial French/Viet. Also the reopened Cliff House is cool. Have a great celebration. Michelle |
Happy anniversary!
Have a bottle of champaign and a dance at Harry Denton's Starlight Room, at the top of The Sir Francis Drake Hotel: breathtaking! AL ((d)) |
Carnelian Room atop the BofA Tower?
Watch the clouds come in beneath you. MichelleY, The Cliff House is finally done remodeling!?!? Oh ohhhhh. |
I'll be dining at Farallon very soon. I'll let you know how it is when we return! ***kim*** ((f))

Gary Danko.
Michael Mina. Dining Room at the Ritz. |
My favorite "intimate" restaurants of late:
Oola Folsom Street, South of Market Hip decor, can't-miss menu. Baraka Portero Hill Same management as Chez Papa. Moroccan-French dishes, beatiful tent-like interior. Eat, drink, and .... you know! Happy anniversary. |
The Cliff House restaurant is really awful (slow service, high prices, mediocre food).
One of the best meals in the city is still the Fifth Floor (Tables 1 or 2). Very romantic/sensual dining experience if you're into food. |
Agree with SFImporter on the Cliff House as far as having a meal there. The Cliff House is good for a drink, preferably on a day when the sunset is worth seeing. I'd go for a pre-dinner drink, look at the view, and then proceed to dinner elsewhere. Try Greens at Fort Mason if you want a view of the Golden Gate headlands at dinner. Greens is a vegetarian restaurant, by the way.

Thanks for all your wonderful ideas on making our weekend memorable. We leave tomorrow and it looks like we'll have fantastic weather!!
|
Have a great time! We very much enjoyed our meal at Farallon and I highly recommend it, especially if you love seafood. We had a great time walking around Union Square with the kids after dinner.:)
Let me know how you like the Argonaut, we're going back soon for a couple of nights! ***kim*** ((#)) |
;;) Oh come on, kimmer.....where'd yah stay....how was the grub? Quit playin' hard to get! [( |
Ah romance~walking around Union Square with the kids after dining at Farallon..........
Consider Quince for your anniversary dinner. It's quite romantic!Reserve now! |
One must wonder if there is any place more despicable than Calif, which now can add the igomony of the MJ acquittal to the world-shocking OJ verdict. If there is anything that makes people around the globe hate the US more than Californians I would like to know what it is.
|
Yawn boring~while I share your disapproval of the verdict in both the MJ and the OJ cases, I can't understand your logic in your next leap. I keep thinking you are ahhhhnold, but your posts seem to the right of even him!!!!!!! Gregory..get to Quince for your anniversary dinner.

This is Gregory P's wife and we returned last night. I will make a post of our fantastic trip to SF. A quick thought tho....the Argonaut was the best choice we could ever have made, the weather was heaven, clear and 75 all 5 days, Starlight Room, champagne and 12 long stemmed red roses upon entry into our hotel room overwhelming and romantic....more to come. Mary

y_b,
And I think what ticks people off even more is that most of us Californians don't care what others think. :)>- GP's wife-Congrats on a great trip. |
