Spamalot tickets and other

Hi all

I appended this message onto another one earlier but not sure if it got out there. I am going to NYC in November (23-28) and wanted very much to see Spamalot, but tickets are sold out til the end of the year. What is my best way of getting tickets? Should I just buy the vastly overpriced ones I saw on www.applause-tickets.com or should I wait and try to get last minute tickets when I get there? If I do wait, how long do these lineups take (ie I don't want to spend a half day out of 5 days in a lineup).

Also, if I absolutely can't get those tickets, what are some other good ones I might like? I am thinking the Producers. Have seen Rent, Chicago, Mamma Mia, the typical ones.

Any good off broadway plays?

Ok thanks for all your help
KD

Relatives of mine that visited NYC this summer lined up for return tickets for 3hours and didn't get any but the person in front of them did..so, they tried again the next day but got there a little earlier and they were lucky. They got 4 tickets at face cost, good seats and they loved the show.

It sounds like you don't want to spend a half day in line and of course there's no guarantees....

Hard to say what else you might like. If the comedy in Spamalot is what attracted you, The Producers might be a good runner up.

A good place to browse is Playbill.com
Paying very high prices for something and asking others to say if it is worth it, is impossible to answer. One person's "worth it" is another person's
waste of money.

It seems you're going to be here over T'giving, don't wait too long to book theatre or dinner.

BTW, it was Spamalot that they saw.

I don't know if they're still available for November but there were still good seats available for Dirty Rotten Scoundrels in December and it's getting great reviews. I think it's worth looking at their website for November.

I am going to look at Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, The Producers and the Odd Couple. They all sound good but if anyone has any thoughts on any of them, I'd love to hear from you!

I think you'll have more trouble finding Odd Couple seats that for Spamalot!

I think either The Producers or Dirty Rotten Scoundrels would be your best bet. Not only are there tickets available but there are discounts as well. See www.broadwaybox.com. A friend just called Telecharge last night and got tickets for Soundrels at a 30% discount with the code I gave her from there.

For Spamalot try ebay - sometimes private persons selling tickets thay can;t use aren't as greedy as the scalpers.

However, short of standing on line for hours at the box office for returns or house seats and possibly not getting them - it's really your only choice.

We are seeing Spamalot next week, but got our tix months ago. You either need to pay up for the broker or wait in the line mentioned above. I would second The Producers, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels or even Spelling Bee as other choices for you. Don't even try for Odd Couple -- the entire run is sold out.

For Spamslot you can also try http://www.broadwaybox.com since they offer discounts on regular shows and on premium tickets for sold out shows. If it is still too expensive for you, I would go with The Producers

Try Craigslist.com too for New York City. I've bought concert and theater tickets there without the bidding wars of Ebay.

Be careful with craigslist, scammers hang out there as well as legit people.

We're going to NYC similar dates. I can tell you that theater tickets will be very, very difficult to get if you've already seen most of the top shows. I booked ours many months ago. Even though "Fiddler" is closing soon, with extra matinee performances, couldn't get seats (well, except maybe "premium" and I didn't even bother to check the prices...).

Still, check out disounts tickets at Playbill, Broadwaybox, Theatermania, etc.

I, personally, wouldn't wait for what may or may not be available at TKTS if you've already seen many.
