Spamalot Ticket Help

Hello, I am planning on a trip to NYC next weekend (7/7-7/9). I am going to be by myself and I've never been to NYC before. I think I've decided to go and see Spamalot, but I have some questions about tickets and seating. First, I'm assuming since it seems very popular that I can't do better than the 120 dollars on telecharge.com. I am a student if that makes any difference but it seems like this is this is the only real option. But, I have a question about which time to go and which seats to get. At the moment, my options are: Friday night P106 (16th row in the center) or A6 (1st row on the right side) or Saturday matinee E14 (fifth row on the right side). I really have no idea which of these is the best. I have no real preference between the two times. My logic at the moment is, I'm more comfortable seeing the Saturday show since Friday night would mean travelling back on my own at night (I'm just 21 years old and a female) to the Millenium Hilton downtown. I'm not really scared, I just don't know about the inconvenience of finding my way around at the time (don't really want to pay a bunch of money for a taxi either). But, on the other hand, the mid-afternoon show cuts into time to see things (this is my first trip and I only have the weekend). Which would you choose in my position?

Before you call telecharge or Ticket Master go online to telecharge.com and check to see if they have seating charts for the theater that you are interested in. Print it out. If not, you can google for the site, as I have forgotten it.

Then when you are talking with the Telecharge or Ticket Master operator, you can see for yourself exactly where the seats are. If they are not satisfactory, they will give you other choices.

When we go to NY we usually see at least seven plays, so I keep the charts that I have printed out for future trips.

You can do this for theaters in any major city. I do it at home in San Francisco, and for other theaters, large and small in the Bay Area.

I'd love to see Spamalot, hope you enjoy it.

First of all, does anyone know the 800 number for Telecharge?

Archer.J - It' late and I'm a little rummy, but try this. Go to Playbill.com and scroll down the left side of the site for 'seating charts'. Click it and then find the Sam S.Shubert Theater. Click on that and you will find the seating chart.

Try to contact Telecharge by phone rather than on line.

I hate to disappoint you, but it will probably be impossible to get good seats for next week or any weekend in the near future. Although it may be a bit easier to get an individual seat, rather than several together.

Either take what they offer, or try to get a ticket for a a later date and reschedule your trip accordingly, if you can.

The seats that you mentioned in your post, were probably gone by the time you posted them. You have to make an immediate decision.

While you are on the Playbill site, browse through it, as it is very interesing and has a lot of theater info.

Rather than spend $120 for a bad seat for Spamalot, why not go to an Off-Broadway production or see something that has been around a lot longer than Spamalot.

As you are by yourself, if you are uncomfortable walking or taking the subway after the theater, spend the extra money for a cab. It will be worth your peace of mind.

When we come to NY, we've tried two months in advance to get good seats for various shows, week days included and couldn't because they were sold out or there were no good seats available. The last time was in January, 2005, and we had just as much trouble as we've had in May of other years.

If it's still available, take the P106 seat. Considering how close the dates are, you're lucky to get that seat.

Hello, thanks for the help. The seats are all still available this morning. I was just concerned if row P was too far back (and had the overhang from the mezannine) to be a good view, or if A6 was too far to the right and to close to be comfortable. But, I suppose I'll go ahead and get the row P seat now. Thanks for the help, I appreciate it.

Oh, one other thing, I hate to ask a stuipd question, but could somebody give me an idea of how much it'd cost to get from the theatre to the hotel via a taxi and how easy it is to get a taxi at that time (I've only ever used the subway in big cities before so I know very little about taxis)? I'm staying at the Millenium Hilton way downtown.

Hello everybody! Well, I thought I'd let you know what I decided on. Due to a change of plans, I won't actually be arriving on Friday night in time for the show, so I need to go on Saturday instead. I ended up choosing the 8:00 show in seat C10 (third row on the right side five seats from the aisle). Thanks for all the help.
