okay, will keep checking. a bathroomless cabin doesn't bother me too much though. although I would probably just prefer to camp with a tent if I am going to "rough it", but we won't have one out there, so not going to bother buying one for just a night.
the rates for the lodgin IN the park are $175. We can spend that, but is it really worth it?

This restaurant, Buffalo Bistro, is probably too far out of the way, but it sounds like fun. http://www.sltrib.com/taste/ci_13199436

Hi Laurenanne, I just wanted to offer some more suggestions in Zion as you could spend a week there! I would strongly recommend hiking 'the Narrows' in Zion. You will be hiking up the Virgin River and in my opinion it will have some of the most spectacular and beautiful sights to see. Keep in mind most of your time in the narrows you are shaded from the sun and it can become somewhat chilly. Depending on how far up you go the water can reach as high as your waist or more--so plan to wear a suit.
If you want something more demanding (with breathtaking vistas), Angel's Landing is *the* hike to do. It is a very difficult hike, not to mention dangerous, but well worth it if you are determined.
As for evenings, if you like live performances Tuacahn is wonderful. It's possible it may become chilly in September evenings though. (Lows have been high 60s) There is an Imax just south outside of Zion (literally right outside the park entrance). If you want something more lively you'll probably have to head to Mesquite which is 30 minutes away and Vegas 2 hours.
