Day 3-4- travel and see Santa Fe. Day 5-8- see Flagstaff Arizona and Sedona. I would appreciate any advice you can give us on best attractions, hotels or any other interesting info that will help us on this trip. |
Why are you spednig time in Amarillo? I can see why you would stop there for the night but why the extra night?
|
Probably only spendings night there and using extra day in Albuquerque
|
Sounds like a very interesting trip.
There are several threads here that cover your trip, you can go to the view by state box to find them. That said, by Crayon Canyon do you mean Grand Canyon? I would want to include that on a trip to the area. You haven't included the time it takes to get from one site to the next, so you really don't have quite as much time in the parks as you have indicated. Do get lodging arranged asap if you want to stay in the parks. Get a cooler and fill it with snacks, drinks, sandwich makings, ice etc. Fill your gas tank whenever it is at/below half and you see a station. Drink five times as much water as you think you need. |
I wondered what Crayon Canyon was... LOL
I think you have too much time in Flagstaff and Sedona. Half day max in Flagstaff and a full day in Sedona, unless you are into hiking. If it is Grand Canyon, I would add a day there. |
I'm from Texas, and I feel like you may be disappointed by Amarillo. Why are you thinking of going there?
|
I would definitely drop one night in Amarillo. I would also drop a night in Flagstaff and add those nights to Sedona. One day in Sedona isn't enough to even scratch the surface of things to see and do.
We spend 5-7 days at least once a year in Sedona. So much to see and do: Montezuma Castle/Montezuma Well Bell Rock Cathedral Rock Chapel of the Holy Cross -- must-see, spiritual, even for us non-religious types Oak Creek Canyon (travel through on your way to/from Sedona) Airport Mesa Red Rock Crossing Wine tasting along Page Springs Road Jerome for a day trip (1/2 day). Add Prescott for a full day. Pink Jeep Broken Arrow Tour Verde Canyon Railroad Slide Rock state Park during the Summer Tuzigoot National Monument Sunset Crater/Wupatki National Monument and Walnut Canyon as a day trip, close to Flagstaff Browse Tlaquepaque and galleries around Hillside Browse uptown Sedona (mostly souvenirs, but lots of good galleries. Much more scenery viewing by driving some of the back roads around Sedona. |
