Southwest to Air Alaska connection - Seattle Airport

In July, I will be flying into Seattle/Tacoma airport via Southwest and connecting to an Air Alaska flight to Anchorage. My plan is to allow 3 hours between the Southwest arrival and the Air Alaska departure. I'm unfamiliar with the Seattle airport and with Alaska Air. Is my schedule realistic? Any tips? Thanks very much.

I wish you luck, the last time I did a connector with Alaska Air via US Air, my luggage didn't make the connection and I had a 2 hour window. If the airline is not a code share of Alaska Air, which Southwest is not, I would be a little leary.

Assuming your luggage makes it ( and I have no reason to think it wouldn't), the connection is very easy. Sea-Tac is a pretty small airport, with one terminal and 2 satellites. Many SW flights come into the south satellite. There is a shuttle train, leaving every 2 minutes, that loops around between the main terminal and the satellites. It is well signed.

SeaTac is not a particularly large airport. Southwest flies into Concourse B; Alaska uses Concourses C and D. This map will give you an idea of where you'd be going; it's not a long walk from B to C.

Thanks to all for your advice. I think I might not check the luggage through, and use my 3 hour layover to pick up the luggage from Southwest (assuming it makes it) and then re-check it myself with Alaska. I was considering a connection that would permit a layover of about 90 minutes, but that might be cutting it close for this particular plan.

Remember you cannot thru check your luggage to Anchorage anyway. Southwest has NO interline baggage transfer agreements. So if you check your luggage with Southwest, you WILL have to pick up your luggage before moving onto Air Alaska. You have to allow for time to pick up your luggage and recheck again. Might be easier to just do carry-on if you can.

<b><s>Air Alaska</s></b>

<b>Alaska Airlines.</b>

As already stated, you will NOT be checking luggage &quot;through&quot;. You will have to claim your luggage in Seattle at baggage claim and the RECHECK it with Alaska Airlines, factor in standing in line, going through security etc.

Seatac is a very busy airport. IF everything goes well and you are organized, 3 hours might make it.
