Southernmost on the beach or hyatt in key west

I found a deal of a night free at Hyatt after booking Southernmost on the Beach. Can you tell me how the hotels compare? We will probably go into town everyday, but don't mind taking a cab, but wondering how both hotels compare.

I've stayed at Southernmost on the Beach twice and at La Mer House once. We like that end of the island. You have your own small beach, and if Anna is still across the street selling Cuban breakfast sandwiches it's ideal.
We always enjoyed the walk down Duva, Whitehead or Simonton to the busy end of the island. We Told ourselves that the walk helped to burn the calories from the rich food and drinks.
I don't have any experience with the Hyatt.

Just to be clear. You don't have your own small beach. The Southernmost is on a public beach which can attrach any number of people who are not staying at any of the Southernmost Properties.

If you plan on doing (m)any watersports, the Hyatt would be more convenient, esp if you planned on a snorkel trip or champagne sunset sail on the Floridays since it docks there.

If you can stay at the Hyatt, do it. Great location/nice rooms w/balconies and you can walk everywhere.

There are 4 Hyatts in Key West. The only one that's not a timeshare is Hyatt Resort and Marina on Front Street. I've stayed there several times and like it a lot. We enjoy staying on the bay side of the island because there's so much boat traffic and lots of tourist activites center around that area: sunset sails, snorkel and scuba tours, fishing, etc.

The other 3 Hyatts are Windward Pointe, which is next to the airport, Sunset Harbour, which is on the bay side in a good location, and Beachside, which is in New Town.

The Windward Pointe is beautiful and the newest property, but I really wouldn't want to stay there because we enjoy being able to walk everywhere.
