Southern Road Trip

We are planning a driving trip in the Spring starting in Charlotte NC. We are not on any strict schedule and would like to visit: Asheville, Knoxville, Chatanooga, Atlanta, Savannah, Hilton Head, Beaufort, Charleston and Raleigh. Would love suggestions about this itinerary and how long to plan in each city as well as sights not to miss. Also, if you have favorite places to stay would appreciate those as well.

It will help if you give us more information. How long total? What are your interests? Also spring is very variable here. March could be snow in the mountains but it could be warm enough to walk barefoot at the beach. Do you have a time period picked out.

Why Charlotte? GSP an hour south of Charlotte near Asheville has SW and is cheaper. You could fly an open jaw and return home on SW from Charleston. (I'm a big fan of free bags. You will certainly go home with a couple of bags filled.)

Also a budget would be helpful.

Charlotte is also getting Southwest. And there's a good bit to do in charlotte these days!
That is a LOT of traveling so I am assuming a LONG time to do it.

Stop at Pearl Fryar's topiary garden: http://www.pearlfryar.com/.
He is not a trained horticulturist, but has done an amazing job with plants in his yard. Off I-20 outside Florence, SC.

More help will come if you explain why those places (admittedly, some are very nice, but what is the interest for YOU).

Oh yeah, who's "we"? You and SO, you and buddy, you and children?
