Southern Oregon Wines
Can anyone recommend a winery or two within a short drive from Brookings, OR? I only have time to visit a couple so which ones have the nicest tours and of course, the nicest wines?
|
How short is "short"? My guess is you'll have to drive almost to Medford, which is not my idea of short. Most Oregon wineries don't offer tours except to groups, and then by appointment only. I expect that's especially true of southern Oregon wineries, as most are quite small. Here's a website listing some options: http://www.sorwa.org/roguemap.htm. Sorry, since I'm in Portland, I have no basis for comparing quality of wines one from the other.

My idea of "short" is less than two hours. Just noticing routes from Brookings to Medford... how long would you estimate the driving time beachbum?
|
Maybe someone who's done the drive can give a more accurate answer, but I think it will be most, if not all of your two hours.

Two places in Southern Oregon that we have enjoyed visiting/tasting are Paschal Vineyards and Abacela. :)
Paschal has very good wines and the tasting room is very pretty with gorgeous grounds. Abacela makes a really nice Granache that we enjoy. We hope to visit a few more places this month. Cheers! ***kim*** ((#)) |
Keep in mind that Brookings to Ashland is close to 150 miles.

Here's another ttt for ya, Shae. Wow, 150 miles Brookings to Ashland, mms! Shae, if I were in your shoes, all things considered, I'd be thinking about Mendocino, or maybe even Sonoma. Why are you in Brookings?
