Southern Cookbooks
Recently, there was a thread on here where several people mentioned their favorite cookbooks for southern food, including Paula Dean's cookbooks and River Road cookbooks. I meant to return to that thread, copy down the names of the cookbooks and order some, but now I can't find the thread! Does anyone here remember the title of that thread? It was here about a month or so ago.

The best southern cookbooks.
The Cotton Country Collection from Monroe, LA The Atlanta Jr. League Cookbook Charleston Receipts Frank Stitt's A Southern Table Scott Peacock and Edna Lewis's book Anything by Edna Lewis The Memphis Jr. League cookbook I'll come back with better titles. Don't bother with Paula Dean. |
Oh, and truly the very best "community" cookbook is from Charlotte Latin School
Cooking with Class (the first one) and then Cooking with Class, A Second Helping. You will never regret getting this book. |

Thank you!

Is Paula and Deen the Lady and Sons woman?
|
Yep. Paula Deen is THE Lady. Her two Sons have always worked with her since they were young.

When I moved south, my mother bought me White Trash Cooking. It is hysterical and includes pictures. Nothing edible unless you like lots of lard, but very entertaining.

River Road Recipes cookbooks can be obtained from the Junior League of Baton Rouge. www.juniorleaguebr.com -
These are the Bible for creole/cajun cooking! |
Charleston Receipts is probably THE authority on southern recipes. Everything from cheeze straws to benne wafers.
