Southern California With Kids
 

Hello all, I will be returning to Southern California in a few weeks with our family. We will be flying into San Diego and planning on one day at Disneyland. It is a four-day trip. I want to go to the beach at least one day. Would you recommend somewhere in San Diego or should we just head towards Orange County? We arrive late morning and have all day to get to the Anaheim area. We've been to Balboa Park and the Coronado beach before (and loved it). If we've been to Coronado, should we do Huntington or Newport Beach instead or are San Diego beaches better? Also, Is the Cabrillo Monument worth a visit this trip? We love being outdoors. I don't think we want to do the zoo, SeaWorld, etc., this trip. Thanks!

Curious, why would you tag a question about Southern CA with a Colorado tag? Or are you coming from Colorado.

In March you'll really have to keep an eye on the weather forecast, so if arrival day is sunny and warm and the forecast is calling for rain the rest of the week (bite my tongue), maybe head right to La Jolla or Del Mar upon arrival in San Diego.

Lots of great beaches in the carlsbad, oceanside area and since you are heading up toward disneyland I would park myself there as it is on the way

All the beaches you mentioned are equally nice. So you only need to choose based on convenience.

Thanks for the replies so far. I got online this morning and got the free day tickets for the Huntington Library! I lived in So Cal for awhile, never made it and have regretted it. I am so excited!
